Adelante Arts Camp
Summer 2026 -
Celebrating Culture Mural
In partnership with the Tuscarawas County YMCA, Puentes, and Comunidad Sol, Tuscarawas Arts Partnership (TAP) welcomes students to Adelante Arts Camp, celebrating six summers of intercultural arts programming. This summer, Adelante Arts Camp is excited to shift its creative focus and educational mission to offer an intercultural, collaborative mural class that explores creativity, cultural heritage, and personal growth.
Students will learn to create a mural under the guidance of teaching artist Francis Brogan. Throughout the class, up to 20 students in Tuscarawas County will learn how to create, design, and propose a mural for their “client,” collaborate with other students, and paint the finalized design on panels for a wall at the Tuscarawas YMCA. Students with cultural backgrounds such as Mayan and Latino, Appalachian, or other cultural identities are encouraged to participate.
Adelante Arts Camp will run on Mondays to Thursdays from 4:00 - 6:00 PM starting Monday, June 15, 2026, and wrap up with a final reception of the mural at the Tuscarawas County YMCA on Thursday, July 2, 2026. Students in Tuscarawas County (public school, private school, or homeschool) can register and interview to participate in the mural-making sessions for Adelante Arts Camp. Students are considered for the class after they submit their registration and are interviewed (10-minute interview) by the coordinators of Adelante Arts Camp and artist Francis Brogan.
